ItemA comparison of how online payment methods work differently in two different countries: Brazil and Ireland, and how much they impact customer’s life( 2022-11) Cassia Souza BarbalhoAs the world evolves technologically regarding digital transformation and payment systems, each country finds its ways to step forward according to its necessity and resources. Which was what happened regarding Brazil and Ireland. Taking into consideration that each followed a different online payment methodology pathway. As a Brazilian immigrant living in Ireland, this subject matters due to its importance in my life and other thousands of countrymen living here as well. Living in two countries also implies managing two currency transactions, two banking accounts, two online payment methods, two systems and in two different time zones. Basically, that was the kitten for this applied project to happen. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze deeply how both countries’ online payment systems differs from each other, and how much they impact Brazilian immigrants’ life.

ItemA look into the reasons for consumers behavior change when deciding to adopt a plant based diet and its impacts and consequences on the market and environment( 2022-11) Naisa de Almeida CunhaWe can say that nowadays a growing market is the market for alternatives to food based on animal protein. Over the years, it was noticed that there was an increase in people looking for this alternative, which are plant-based foods. The increase in foods, including beverages that are of plant origin, is notable, and this results in an impact on the market and favors the plant- based alternative industry, which presents a great challenge for the meat industry. In order to have a better understanding of the change in consumer behavior in relation to their food diet, this project aims to investigate what these factors are and what are the impacts of this change on their lives. The reasons that prompted this change will be investigated and they are related to ethical, health and environmental issues.

ItemA Research on How Covid-19 affects retail businesses in Ireland( 2022) Lara Emanuelle Simões BragaDuring Covid-19, as a spectator, I saw the impact that the pandemic caused on the world. Business’ during this time closed their doors and owners had to shut their companies’ doors. Managers and employees lost their jobs and customers had to isolate from their normal day’s tasks to ensure their safety and the safety of those around them. This fact made me to do research to facilitate and understand how to prevent and prepare the business, owners, managers, employees and consumers/clients for any future possible risks or crisis. The good performance of the business is essential for the environment of the society because they are the ones who deliver the goods and service to the society. In accordance with the Corporate Social Responsibility, some business performances can benefit the society. The businesses are part of our lives, and it is important to understand the knowledge of how Covid-19 pandemic affected them and how future crisis’ can be avoided to benefit to the economy and society. This thesis provides a search from different points of views to fulfil the purpose which is to deliver enough data to businesses to prepare strategies for future crisis. I hope this research can deliver enough knowledge to the readers to improve business`s approaches and knowledge towards the progression of their operation and the environment.

A quantitative research strategy has been applied, with data collection via a survey of 100 participants. The result of the survey prove that digital traceability has a significant positive influence on all the outcomes, even though the positive impact on the competitiveness of companies was the strongest. Traceability must be encouraged within all enterprises.

ItemAn Examination of the Changes in the Workforce due to the Rise of Remote Working( 2022) Fernanda Lamenha MedeirosThis project is focused on examining what changes and challenges Covid brought upon the workforce. It offers valuable insights for anybody who is struggling to settle into remote work, them being either employers or employees. There were many challenges to overcome after moving to remote work. Companies had to accelerate, develop and buy technologies that were ahead of the time. Employees did not have suitable space to work at home, had to familiarize themselves with new software and get used to the different ways organizations were running. Considering that there are still many aspects of remote working that have not been mentioned in this paper due to the large arsenal of challenges and changes that Covid brought upon the workforce and to make it easier for readers to pinpoint specific aspects of remote work this research will focus on the following themes: how the lack of employees’ physical presence in the office affects their career progression; How communication has changed after moving to the remote working environment; How remote working has affected employees’ individual performance; Work-life balance and its effects on stress related diseases in the remote working environment; Analyses of whether remote working, hybrid mode or fully back to the office are preferable between employees and managers in the future after Covid has passed. Given the complexity of the chosen subject the themes had different outcomes where either primary and secondary research disagrees, or one of the samples disagree with the other and themes that have been proven. It has been concluded that there were changes that were slowly being implemented before the pandemic happened and the pandemic has only “accelerated” those processes. Hence, remote work was more of an “immediate adjustment before the industry had intended to move towards the online environment” than an “active change to accommodate my workforce into the online environment”.

ItemAre Catholic Churches in Dublin communicating with the community through the Internet in an engaging way?( 2022-11) Kelly Patricia TelesGlobal pandemic has put increased pressure on church communications. During lockdowns, parishes and churches were pressed to learn new skills for online ministry. After that, some religious leaders mention being more willing to communicate online, as they realized that believers still sought religious comfort online. It is a significant change in behaviour and could be explored in developing more marketing skills to church’s members attract and retain believers wishing for spiritual fulfilment. In this context, the social phenomena generate interest in investigating what believers living this new reality are responding to it. Thus, for this research it is important to investigate how is the believers’ point of view to understand how catholic churches has been using its online presence and communication to attract and persuade believers to interact and engage with the Gospel also in the virtual world.

ItemBenefits and Challenges of Remote Work in the Irish Market( 2022-11) Sarah ParreiraOur way of life has undergone several modifications because of the coronavirus epidemic. Several societal customs were altered as a result of COVID-19. The implementation of remote work was basically one of them. Even if this modality already exists, it was the epidemic that made corporations turn to remote employment as a survival tactic. Even though we gathered information on this modality, further research is still necessary because eyesight changes depending on the situation. The examination of the selected subject that is being provided suggests a reflective viewpoint to increase knowledge of how those who work remotely see this work style. Considering the situation as it is now, potential solutions, and regular news coverage, it is a significant issue. The topic of interest is still connected to the welfare of the workforce. There are adaption processes brought on by this new long-distance interaction between the employer and the employee. It also presents a number of problems for people who utilize it as well as several benefits for all parties. For this study, a positivist approach was implemented, and data were collected through an online survey, which generated a total of 104 responses. The data reveal a good acceptance, and, in general, the interviewees were satisfied with the opportunity to work remotely in the Irish market.

ItemCauses and consequences of staff turnover in food and beverage service in Dublin/Ireland.( 2022) Priscila Costa de SouzaThe main objective of this research is to try to understand which factors contribute to the High Staff Turnover in the food and beverage industry in Dublin/Ireland. In this way, at the end of this research, there will be recommendations for companies in this industry, which aim to help reduce staff turnover in pubs and restaurants. As the research took place using the qualitative methodology, therefore, it was possible to identify in the interviews what has been causing this turnover. The interviewees mentioned important points such as: aggressive culture, managers who do not motivate, the non-existence and/or inexpressiveness of the Human Resources department, the expectations they have with the company, and communication, which has been mostly inefficient. Therefore, these factors impact and/or impacted the interviewees' decision to stay in the company or not. With the help of the Literature Review, it was possible to triangulate the information and obtain more concise and effective conclusions. Which made it possible to recommend some points, mainly regarding Communication and the role of the Human Resources department.

ItemComparison during 2020 and 2022 mental and physical symptoms impacting cleaners, nurses, and managers dealing with COVID-19 areas. What has changed, are the symptoms still there?( 2022) Sandra Elizabeth Flores JimenezBackground: COVID-19 cases was reported in December 2019 in Wuhan, China, as a pneumonia from an unknown caused. By January 30, 2020, there were already 7,734 positive cases in several provinces of China, and by April 18, the virus was confirmed in 198 countries (Shaukat, Ali and Razzak, 2020), by May 2022, cases were above 3.5 million, and fatalities above 12,000 (World Health Organization, 2022). Methods: The targeted employees are managers, nurses/ healthcare, and cleaners, which are considered the people that are in longer contact with the patients. I used for the quantitative method a survey, for 6 weeks 52 employees were engaged in it, employees from departments that have been in contact with covid since the beginning of the pandemic until now. As for the interviews, these were done for 2 weeks, where I was able to speak with 4 different people. The manager who runs cleaners in covid areas, 2 cleaners of covid areas, a nurse of covid area. Results: Practices implemented by the Hospital to ease the process for FHCWs, where most of the participants experienced severe psychological and physical symptoms during 2020 such as anxiety, uncertainty, fatigue, burnout, loneliness, insomnia, nightmares, transpiration, chest pain, panic breakdowns, and gastrointestinal problems. Also, skin problems related to the use of PPE. Symptoms ease as the same time as government measures ease and allowed to engage in their regular routine to decompress. Limitations: The results only represented a small sample of workers, the availability of participants was a factor because during the data collection, workload was quite heavy. Conclusions: COVID-19 impacted negatively psychologically and physically to workers during 2020, as for now symptoms are gathered on low levels, mostly related to the current affluence of the Hospital during winter.

Because of the experience working at place, some ideas came up to boost sales. One of them being deeper, because of the investment that it represented. The challenge was to demonstrate that structured focused training based on psychographic could have been the answer to increase the sales. There was a project with one of the members of the team, which goal was to become a better seller, which was achieved at certain time. However, the factors involved, and the procedure followed to make it happen was unclear, and there was an indicative the answer might had relied on simply training. But an adequate one for this member. If true, there was a chance to achieve the goals on a simple way, so that, an opportunity can be given to basic actions driven by new technologies to become more efficient. In the next pages there is a deep explanation of what has been studied, how was the idea created and how valuable this procedure can be.

ItemEffects of Diversity on workplace, and challenges and opportunities for Brazilians to work in Ireland.( 2022-11) CAIO FELIPE CORREAIreland has seen an increase in the number of immigrants over the years due to a variety of circumstances, including globalization, war, and, in some cases, a desire to relocate to a safer area. All of this leads to a rise in the cultural diversity present in the Irish labor market. Brazilian immigrants, the subject of my study, come to Ireland primarily to improve their English skills because the country's public school system does not provide adequate instruction in the subject. Many of these immigrants also hold a second European nationality, which allows them to live and work in Ireland on a full-time basis without having to pay any kind of tax or apply for a visa. As a result, the goal of this study is to find out how this topic of diversity in the job market works in Ireland. Since this is a management course, it will be conducted in this way and try to figure out how important leaders are for this topic and what tools can help them. ItemExploring the market potential of plant-based food and beverage in Dublin, in 2022.( 2022) Fabiola Ramos Geia do AmaralPlant-based diet has become a growing trend, especially among young generations that seem to be more aware of the benefits of following a plant-based diet. Studies have presented different motivations that make consumers to choose a plant-based lifestyle. Flexitarian consumers, for example, are driven primarily by the taste of the food, animal welfare and environmental impacts, while vegans are strongly driven by ethical opposition to the use of animals for food. Vegetarians are more concerned with animal welfare, taste of food and the impact that food has on the environment and their health. The purpose of this study is to provide entrepreneurs with insights about the potential of plantbased food and beverage market in order to help them in their business decisions making. To do so, the author of this research conducted a survey with 60 samples with focus on consumers preferences and opinions and 2 interviews with small business owners from Dublin, focusing on challenges and opportunities encountered by them regard plant-based food and beverage market. It is fundamental for business owners to understand which aspects lead consumers to choose a particular type of food or drink and their points of view about what is being offered in the plantbased food and beverage market in Dublin. ItemInformation technology tools and employees’ performance( 2022-11) Cesar Correia de SousaInformation technology within organisations has been playing such an important part in all aspects of business and it is crucial to understand the influence and relation between IT tools and employees’ performance and the issues involved when implement new IT tools, when working from home, when communicating between teams and also the negative effects of IT tools on employees’ performance. Companies on their digital transformation journey have invested heavily in IT tools to optimize their business performance however it is crucial to understand how IT tools effect employee’s performance. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of information technology on employee’s performance. This research followed the pragmatism method which involves a survey which was distributed to professionals in the industry based mainly in Ireland and in Brazil and a qualitative interview which emphasis is to understand individuals and their experience of the world around them. Analysing the responses there was a strong support to the literature review which states that there is a strong relation between IT tools and employee’s performance and if organisations neglect it those IT tools, can have a negative effect leading to low motivation and low levels of job satisfaction. The results indicate that IT tools have a strong effect on employees’ performance however it is important for organisation not only equip employees with the right IT tools but also create environment where employees can engage and feel valued.

The research focuses upon the impact of environmental factors on the green purchasing behavior in the Irish food industry. These environmental factors include social influence, environment attitude and concern, concern of self-image and green marketing. The Irish food industry has grown rapidly over the past years and is expected to grow which also indicates new variety in food industry, thus it is important to understand environmental factors which can lead to green purchasing behavior to reduce the impact on environment. Quantitative research method has been used, and the primary data is collected using survey questionnaire. The research and its results are based upon the secondary and primary research, based upon the findings specifically from the Irish food industry. The results shows that these environmental factors have positive impact on green purchasing behavior, additionally most of the consumers are also willing to pay higher price for environmental friendly products in food industry and reduce the wastage.

ItemPoint of Sales System and the Interrelationship with Customer Service( 2022-11) Jessica Soares MedinaThe point of sale (POS) system is a key element in any retail business, as it is responsible for processing customer payments. Zara's POS system runs on a DOS operating system, which is now end-of-life (EOL). This research study will analyze the impact of the POS system on customer service at Zara's store in Dundrum Town Centre, Dublin. The study will use a mixed methods approach, combining qualitative interviews with managers and employees with quantitative surveys of customers. The study will seek to answer the following research questions; (1) What are the impact of the POS system on customer service at Zara's store in Dundrum Town Centre? (2) How does the POS system impact employees' job satisfaction and motivation? (3) What are the potential benefits of upgrading the POS system to a newer, more supported platform? The findings of this study will be of interest to Zara's management, as well as other retailers who are using or considering using similar POS systems.

ItemREMOTE WORK AMONG EMPLOYEES: IS IT A MAKE OR BREAK?( 2022-11) STEFANY MARTINS DE SOUZAThe world faced a mandatory switch from the traditional mode of work to the remote model to comply with the government and health guidelines to help contain the spread of the Covid19 virus. There were pieces of evidence that the world could make the best of advanced technology available to be used. However, only a few studies were made about adopting or refusing this disrupted work model. Businesses that were willing to keep playing their role in the marketplace did not have choices other than learn and adapt themselves and their employees to this new scenario. The critical period of mandatory challenges seems to be over, but practising professional activities remotely has been perceived as the new normal in employees’ daily lives. Considering a normal professional scenario where employees and businesses are free to decide how the approach of work will occur, this study aims to bring up reasons that implicate people’s decision-making to work remotely. By doing so, companies can consider these grounds to filter the perception and make effective decisions when drawing strategies to either embrace or discourage the change from remote work to the traditional mode or viceversa. In this scope, we are considering the type of occupation that can be performed remotely, as well as some features that impact positively and negatively the offsite workers’ daily life. After conducting the primary and secondary research, it was found that in the free will scenario, employees are likely to be in favour of adopting the remote work model for good. For such reason, if managers are looking into adopting the opposite direction, it is highly recommended that they look into each motivation aspect to find rooms to design and develop their strategies.

Item“Remote work: What is the impact on employees and how affect their productivity and performance?”( 2022) Beatriz Selene Martínez CastañedaThe current research was presented with the goal of figuring out what the impact on employees has been, as well as how it has impacted their productivity and performance. This study was made using a constructivist paradigm, an inductive approach, and a mixed methodology that included both qualitative and quantitative research techniques. The collection of main information was created in two ways: the first was through interviews with three managers to find out their perspective on managing employees remotely, and the second was through interviews with employees to find out their perspective as workers. On the other hand, in order to gain insight into the perspectives of 104 workers from a variety of nations, including Ireland, Mexico, and Pakistan, a series of surveys was conducted with them. These workers were asked about their experiences with the aforementioned work paradigm. The triangulation of the review literature, the primary material, and the author's perspective was used to arrive at the conclusions that were drawn from the data that was collected. The investigation is divided into five chapters, each of which contains information on the following topics: the investigation's objective, the issues upon which it is based, the methodology used, the investigative discoveries, and the conclusions drawn from them. The progress of this research has been especially exciting because it is about something that affects everyone in the world.

ItemThe adoption of hybrid learning in Third level education Dublin( 2022-11) Lucrecia Mundo CervantesThe purpose of the study was to analyze if third-level education in Dublin was ready to adopt hybrid learning based on the student’s perspective. The study was supported by secondary research such as Analysis books, Reports, government documents, National bodies’ documents, Journals, and previous studies. And primary research was done by interpretivism approach, inductive Research using the mixed method, quantitative through the responses of 620 surveys, and qualitative through 3 interviews. Interesting results were found in the primary research such as Teachers required constant training not just in technology but also in pedagogical and communication. Students considered that teachers were using traditional tools to deliver class instead of taking advantage of the technology and those factors affected their engagement with their learnings. Also, students didn’t consider the interaction with teachers and college staff as a factor to be engaged with their studies. And that they felt more comfortable asking questions during class rather than technological tools. From the student’s perspective, F2F classes were the best option for them, followed by hybrid. It was concluded that there was still a long way to go to achieve better results and adopt Hybrid learning in Third level education

ItemTHE IDEA BEHIND A SUSTAINABLE BUILDING( 2022) NAEYDE VASCONCELOS SIQUEIRAThis study is sustainability focused on design and construction and what professionals in the field and companies are doing to be more sustainable. What the basic principles in the development of a green building or environmentally friendly are. The research of the five themes helped to reach the research question What is behind a sustainable building. The research method consisted of a mix method (quantitative and qualitative) and was carried out with the participation of professionals in architecture and engineering to answer questions about the five themes from this study. After collecting data from the survey and interview, analyses and triangulation with secondary research indicate that companies are trying to be socially responsible, and the use of wind and solar energy are the best options in the construction as they can easily be incorporated in the design. This study concludes that conserving, reuse, recycle, and protect are important to a sustainable building development, to reduce the pollution in the environment, and depletion of natural resources. Thus, promoting a better balance between environment and society.
