THE IDEA BEHIND A SUSTAINABLE BUILDING

Abstract

This study is sustainability focused on design and construction and what professionals in the field and companies are doing to be more sustainable. What the basic principles in the development of a green building or environmentally friendly are. The research of the five themes helped to reach the research question What is behind a sustainable building. The research method consisted of a mix method (quantitative and qualitative) and was carried out with the participation of professionals in architecture and engineering to answer questions about the five themes from this study. After collecting data from the survey and interview, analyses and triangulation with secondary research indicate that companies are trying to be socially responsible, and the use of wind and solar energy are the best options in the construction as they can easily be incorporated in the design. This study concludes that conserving, reuse, recycle, and protect are important to a sustainable building development, to reduce the pollution in the environment, and depletion of natural resources. Thus, promoting a better balance between environment and society.
